Cheaper Nook tablet, Bigger Kindle Fire?

PM | Categorized As News | With 0 Comments This week Barnes and Nobles is set to release a new version of it’s Nook Tablet. The only difference between it and the version already on sale is 8GB less storage, and a $50 less price tag. So by cutting that 8GB, Barnes & Nobles can now compete with the Kindle Fire price-wise. Since it does have an sd card slot, I don’t see much advantage to paying an extra $50 for 8GB internal storage, and would buy the cheaper version if I was in the market for one.

Amazon isn’t sitting on the successful Kindle Fire, apparently. Rumors are the company will be releasing a larger version in the second quarter of 2012. Nothing is firm yet, but either 9″ or 10″ screen size is a possibility. Releasing a tablet closer to the iPad size will put Amazon more directly in competition with Apple, which the original Fire really hasn’t done.
